About
Mindfulness of Sleep and Dreams
-- Courage is built at night --
Mindfulness
Mindfulness can be defined as "paying attention to what's happening, while it's happening, without judgement or preference."

In Mindfulness of Sleep and Dreaming, we are paying attention to the night time experience, while it's happening, without judgement or preference.
Experience
Everyone's experience of the night time is unique.

A wide spectrum of potential experiences exists for each individual, every night. One night we may have a great dream and wake up refreshed and energized, while another we may struggle to fall asleep or have a frightening nightmare.

Mindfulness of Sleep & Dreams teaches us to become familiar with our own experience of sleep, with a sense of acceptance and non-judgement.
Awareness
Mindfulness practice teaches us to become more aware of our thoughts and emotions, so they don't over-take us.

We learn to notice when we've become lost in anger so we don't say or do something hurtful toward others.
Awareness of our present state-of-mind is incredibly valuable in navigating our world, as we learn to respond instead of react.

In Mindfulness of Sleep and Dreams, we build an awareness of our sleeping and dreaming mind, so that we don't let it over-take us.
Awareness of the night time experience yields creativity and problem solving, and insights into the sometimes challenging emotional processing that occurs in our dreaming mind.

Courage
Dreams can be scary. Mindfulness teaches us to accept our experience without judgement or preference, and in doing so builds a sense of courage and fearlessness.

We learn that nightmares are the sign of a healing mind. A nightmare is simply a dream that is asking - shouting - for you to pay attention.

We become more curious than afraid.
